WordPress : Beginner Guide
Hello everybody ! In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to install the most famous CMS (Content Management System) : WordPress.
What is WordPress ?
WordPress is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) based on PHP and MySQL. WordPress is installed on a web server, which either is part of an Internet hosting service or is a network host itself; the first case may be on a service, for example, and the second case is a computer running the software package. An example of the second case is a local computer configured to act as its own web server hosting. Features include a plugin architecture and a template system. It was used by more than 23.3% of the top 10 million websites as of January 2015. WordPress is the most popular blogging system in use on the Web, at more than 60 million websites.
First, you need to download the latest stable archive here and unzip it in your web root directory.
While uploading the files, you may create the database which will be used by WordPress to store your content. The most famous database admin is PHPMyAdmin, so you I will show you how to use it. Please refer your hosting documentation to get the access link.
The upload we started before might be finished right now. You can go to your favorite browser and access to your WordPress root path.
You will automatically be redirect to the install process. You just have to follow the steps! Here it is, a 5 minutes installation!
You may want to customize your blog with a self-made theme, however you can find some for free (here) or you can buy one from ThemeForest. You can also enhance it's capabilities by adding some plugins, which can be found on the official repository.
If you are courageous enough, you may also create your own theme or plugin, so take a look at the Codex where you can find all the functions to create a custom theme.
